BOGOR -- Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Institut Pertanian Bogor (LPPM-IPB) bekerjasama dengan Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (LAPAN) dan Badan Koordinasi Survei dan Pemetaan Nasional (BAKOSURTANAL) menjalin kerjasama pengembangkan satelit mikro.
"Dalam kerjasama itu, secara khusus IPB diminta berkontribusi dalam hal aplikasi ke aspek pertanian, khususnya pangan," kata Kepala LPPM IPM Prof Dr Ir Bambang Pramudya, M.Eng di Bogor, Rabu.
Terkait hal itu, kata dia, Pusat Pengkajian Perencanaan dan Pengembangan Wilayah (P4W) LPPM IPB bekerjasama dengan LAPAN dan BAKOSURTANAL menggelar semiloka Geomatika-SAR Nasional 2009, pekanlalu. Menurut Bambang Pramudya, pemahaman tentang karakteristik pangan dan yang terkait diharapkan dapat membantu pihak LAPAN mendisain bentuk algoritma maupun disain konstruksi citra satelit yang dibutuhkan.
Ia menjelaskan, di IPB sendiri bentuk implementasi yang dilakukan adalah mengalokasikan sejumlah dana untuk mendukung riset tersebut pada anggaran tahun 2009.
Menurut dia, penginderaan jauh sudah menjadi bagian kurikulum pendidikan pada lima fakultas di IPB, yaitu Fakultas Pertanian, Fakultas Kehutanan, Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan (FPIK), Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian (Fateta) dan Fakultas Matematika dan
Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (F-MIPA).
Sementara itu, Kepala P4W LPPM IPB Dr Ernan Rustiadi menjelaskan, kegiatan semiloka tersebut bertujuan mengoreksi arah penginderaan jauh Indonesia menuju paradigma seimbang Optik-SAR.
Di samping itu, juga mendiskusikan pertimbangan perbaikan pendidikan penginderaan jauh untuk meningkatkan sumberdaya manusia (SDM), dan mengkaji tonggak pencapaian geomatika Indonesia dalam percaturan internasional dan nasional, baik dalam konteks penyediaan data, serta analisis pemanfaatan data dan informasi.
Pada semiloka itu disajikan 22 makalah yang mencakup tiga materi makalah kunci yang bersifat kebijakan.
Makalah kebijakan terbagi tiga kelompok, yaitu terkait dengan kurikulum dan pengembangan SDM, perkembangan dan masalah dalam penyediaan data terkait dengan radar, serta perkembangan dan masalah terkait dengan pemanfaatan data di Indonesia.
Masing-masing makalah diwakili oleh lembaga yang mempunyai kompetensi dalam materi tersebut.
Sedangkan 19 makalah lainnya terkait dengan isu teknis, mulai dari aspek yang bersifat mendasar dalam citra optik dan non-optik, dan juga aplikasinya.
Makalah aplikasi antara lain dalam hal penggunaan lahan, kenampakan lahan bekas terbakar, penyebaran penyakit, lahan, dan aspek air/kelautan.
